Cycling club holds two rides from Woy Woy
The Central Coast Bicycle Users' Group has announced two rides from Woy Woy over the next two weeks.
The first ride will be a return ride to Gosford held on Thursday, October 5, starting at Fishermen's Wharf, Woy Woy, at 8am.
The two-hour ride is described as "an easy ride along the shared path to Gosford and back - about 25km in total".
The second ride will be from Woy Woy to Cowan on Saturday, October 14, starting at 7am at Woy Woy railway station, near bus stop A.
The ride of 95km has an altitude gain of 1700 metres and is expected to take five and a half hours.
It is described as "a moderate-paced ride from Woy Woy to Pie in the Sky cafe, Cowan, and back, through the picturesque Brisbane Water National Park and over the Hawkesbury River".
It is graded as medium-hard with an average speed of 22-24kph.
"Designed for more experienced riders, we mostly utilise the old Pacific Hwy and include five longish climbs at Kariong, Mooney-Calga, Pie in the Sky, Mt White and Mooney-Somersby," said ride leader Mr Alan Corven.
There is an option to join the ride at the Kariong bus stop, near the service station, 40 minutes after the start time.
Riders may also opt-out at Brooklyn for a train home, if required, for a ride of about 50km.
"Otherwise it's call a friend for pickup."
Riders are asked to bring water, snacks and money for a drink at a cafe along the way, and to arrive at least five minutes before the start times to sign on.
