Swans receive grant for canteen equipment
The Woy Woy Peninsula Swans Junior AFL Club has received a $2500 Federal grant to buy canteen equipment including a chest freezer and barbecue utensils.
Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid said: "I congratulate the Woy Woy Peninsula Swans on their grant funding from the Stronger Communities Program," Dr Reid said.
"The Program supports local organisations with infrastructure and equipment needs.
"I am pleased to see grant funding go towards supporting volunteers at the Woy Woy Peninsula Swans.
"It is important that our local sporting clubs are well resourced so that they can continue supporting and encouraging younger Australians to be active and part of a sporting team."he said.
Swans president Ms Lara Davis said the grant funding would support the club better manage its canteen.
"The canteen forms a central hub for the club, part of the socialising for parents during training and a zone of excitement for kids on game days".
"The canteen and barbecue are run by our parent volunteers.
"A lot of the canteen equipment is old and required upgrading," she said.
The chest freezer would be used to store ice in case of injuries.
