Cricket club receives grant for mobile scoreboard

The Southern Spirit Cricket Club in Umina Beach has received a Federal grant of $7500.

The cricket club has used the funding to purchase sporting equipment including a mobile scoreboard and other items.

Federal Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid said the Southern Spirit Cricket Club was in good shape heading into the season.

"I am pleased to announce this support for the Southern Spirit Cricket Club.

"Sport is a huge part of all our lives," he said.

"It is important we keep healthy with regular exercise.

"When we have strong sporting clubs, we have healthy communities."

Club senior cricket director Mr Sean Dickson said the grant would help future-proof the club.

"Grants like these are essential for local sporting clubs to help provide top quality recreational services and experiences to its members and the greater community."

The grant came through the Stronger Communities Program, which provides not-for-profit organisations with grant funding of between $2500 to $25,000.

For further information, contact Dr Reid's office on 4322 2400 or email Gordon.Reid.MP@aph.gov.au.
