When will the council take action on flooding?
The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has reported roads in the area have reached "crisis point".
This is the future.
In 2014, Gosford Council exhibited the Brisbane Water Foreshore Floodplain Risk Management Study that included an action, "road-raising".
When development of Woy Woy Bowling Club was determined, raising of Brick Wharf Rd was not considered as an option.
It is well known this road is subject to tidal and storm flooding.
The Woy Woy Peninsula Floodplain Risk Management Study 2023 also supports road-raising, which is a follow on from the foreshore study.
The questions needed to be answered are: Which roads will be raised? Will they be engineered and maintained to be available in an emergency? Will the Central Coast Council adapt to this new protection of infrastructure demand? Which bucket of money will be used or will it be necessary to have an emergency rate rise?
Needless to say, this requires a turnaround in the council's policies and administration.
Will it deliver before the next emergency?
The Scout's motto that has been a reliable backup for yonks is more appropriate than infrastructure placebos handed out in the form of the studies mentioned.
The bottom line is: When will the council take action?
