Shane Waddell wins Umina Major Singles title
Shane Waddell has won this year's Major Singles title at the Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club.
Shane defeated Lee Cribbs in what club secretary Mr Peter Springett described as "a tight, see-sawing game.
"Shane claimed his maiden Major Singles title, after being runner up last year," he said.
Ken Robertson and Jim Phillips won the Major Pairs title.
They defeated Roger Twells and Colin Mew "in another tight, see sawing game".
"Jim Phillips got his birthday present on the last end, to snatch the epic win.
"This is Ken Robertson's maiden championship win.
"All four players kept us on our seats right up to the very last bowl."
In the first round of the Triples championship, Grant Watson, Arty Glynn and Paul Maher defeated Ian Mutton, Ian Jarratt and Ken Harrison.
"This was going to be a tough game for Ken's side, who battled bravely against a strong side, who could be one of the favourites to win the event."
In the other Triples game, Larry Johnston, Peter Heinemann and Warren Brooks defeated Russell Hadley, Brian Butterworth and Geoff Collins.
In the second round of the Minor Singles championship Ron Austin defeated Grant Ambrose.
"Grant got away to an early lead, which Ron reeled back in and hit the lead and stayed there."
