First debates in debating challenge

Public schools across the Peninsula have completed their first debates in the 2019 Premier's Debating Challenge.

Woy Woy Public School has fielded two teams in the Challenge, with the school recording one win and one loss in round one.

"Our Pelicans team went to Empire Bay Public School with Mr Wolski for their round one debate," said principal Ms Ona Buckley.

"They debated the topic that 'We should ban all homework in schools' and were declared the winners.

"Our Seahorses team of went to Ettalong Public School with Mrs Mallarky to debate their team.

"They debated the topic that 'Homework should be completed in groups'.

"They were narrowly defeated but were praised for their clear speaking and rebuttal ability."
