Backpack program for the homeless
The Rotary Club of Woy Woy will support a program for local homeless people.
"During a recent meeting, a member introduced an idea for a project to supply Christmas supplies in the form of a backpack containing a range of items to those who were currently homeless," said club publicity officer Mr Vic Deeble.
"Suggested contents for the backpacks included items such as a radio, batteries, miner's light, food items, clothing and such items as Opal cards and movie tickets.
"The estimated cost of each pack is $50.
"Club members were enthused with the idea and agreed immediately to fund the project.
"Personal donations were made on the spot and it is hoped that this project will be one that can be repeated each year to benefit the homeless of our community," Mr Deeble said.
