Liberal candidates take up wheelchair access

Liberal candidates for the Gosford West Ward, Mr Troy Marquart and Ms Sue Dengate, have taken up the issue of disability access in the main Woy Woy shopping centre.

"There is no way that people in wheelchairs can get on the ramp to the shops as there is a kerb running all the way along the disabled parking spaces," said Mr Marquart.

"There has already been at least one individual who tipped the wheelchair over in an attempt to get over the kerb," he said.

"This is such an important issue that has been neglected despite the fact that it has been brought to the attention of both the Deepwater Plaza management and Central Coast Council on numerous occasions.

"We look forward to implementing a 'common sense approach' in Council when we are voted in that will ensure we work positively with the State Government to have similar issues funded and remedied," he said.

"It is inexplicable how four disabled parking spaces have never had access to the only ramp adjacent to the shops.

"Elected Liberal Councillors will continue to seek more small business input and work with the State Government to obtain such funding for the Peninsula."
