Mayor supports yes vote

Gosford mayor Cr Lawrie McKinna has called on residents to vote in favour of constitution recognition for local government in the referendum to be held with this year's election.

He said constitutional recognition would ensure the Australian Government could continue to provide direct funding to councils, for local roads and other vital infrastructure projects.

"In Gosford City, projects including the Peninsula Recreation Precinct and the Mardi-Mangrove Link were made possible due to funding provided by the Federal Government.

"Without this funding, valuable community assets such as these ones wouldn't exist," said mayor Cr McKinna.
