State surf event held in Umina wins state award
Surf Life Saving NSW has been named the winner of the Volunteer Management of the Year award at the NSW Sports Federation's 2013 Community Sports Awards at State Parliament House on Friday, May 17, for the 2013 Allphones State Surf Life Saving Championship held at Ocean Beach - Umina.
Surf Life Saving NSW conducted the championships which included the coordination of 565 volunteer officials.
In addition, event organisers conducted a course for junior and senior officials.
A function was also held to recognise the contribution of officials, with the Official of the Championship being rewarded with a fly over in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
