Wonderland art at hatter's house
An exhibition of assembled sculptures and paintings by Pearl Beach artist Mr Peter Baka opened at the Hatter's Tea House in Ettalong from Saturday, April 27.
Mr Baka said his exhibition, Recycled Wonderland, was inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and is a series of constructed figurative sculptures, and hollow text bearing dolls, devised from orphaned furniture, wooden boxes, household objects, fabric, bric-a-brac and small ornaments complemented by paintings referencing some of the original illustrations.
Mr Baka's work is housed in the collections of the National Art Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the regional galleries of Bathurst and Newcastle and the private collection of Elton John.
