Preparing for choral evensong
The Peninsula Choir are preparing to sing the service of Choral Evensong at St Luke's Anglican Church, Woy Woy, from 6pm on Sunday, November 29.
Choir publicity officer Ms Maria Collins said the group was looking forward to performing for the local community once again.
"As the pre-Christmas season of Advent draws near, the Peninsula Choir is in readiness once again to sing the service of Choral Evensong as well as its annual presentation of joyous Christmas music," Ms Collins said.
"Evensong dates from the mid-16th century and is a lovely service of worship, although not often heard in these times of modern liturgies.
"It is largely offered nowadays in cathedrals and larger city churches.
"However, when we have a choir with the expertise to sing the appropriate parts of the service, there is an opportunity for local people to experience the delights of this beautiful part of our devotional heritage.
"It will include plenty of scope for congregational participation, including favourite hymns for Advent with their atmosphere of joyful expectancy."
