Lane name proposal

An unnamed laneway near The Scenic Rd in Killcare is likely to be named Ford Lane after a local real estate agent.

At its meeting on July 28, Gosford Council has resolved to seek comment on a proposal to name the laneway after CB Ford, a real estate agent in the Killcare area in the 1920s.

According to a council report, he owned a 20-acre portion of land where the unnamed laneway is situated.

"Members of the Ford family contributed to the economic life of the community in many ways, and family members still live in the area," a report from council staff stated.

"At least five generations of Fords have lived in the Killcare area."

The report stated that council had been approached by Australia Post requesting that an unnamed laneway in Killcare be named to ensure safer delivery of mail.

As part of council's road naming procedure, local studies librarian Mr Geoff Potter was contacted to provide some naming options relating to any historical and cultural significant names for the area.

All adjoining property owners will be notified of the proposed naming and be encouraged to provide feedback on the proposal.
