Funds should not have been gambled

I have been watching the media over the past few days regards to the Gosford Council scandal involving $100 million of public funds being gambled overseas in high risk investments.

It has been reported losses may reach $50 million.

While the Mayor Chris Holstein chooses to be the mouthpiece for this scandal and continues to cover up the truth, then I will have my say.

For years, ratepayers have paid millions of dollars each year to the Gosford Council with the expectation that the funds are being spent on council services such as roads and drainage, water and sewer, sporting ovals and beaches.

Now it has been uncovered by reputable organisations and the ABC 7.30 Report that over $100 million dollars of public funds have been put at risk in overseas high risk investments without our knowledge let alone our consent.

Now we know why our roads across the Gosford LGA are little more than Third World and our beachfronts and sporting ovals are a disgrace.

What a nightmare.

Just imagine what our communities could have looked like if that $100 million had been spent in our communities and not stockpiled to speculate on these overseas investments.

What a beautiful city it could have been.

Shame on you Gosford Council.
