Mayor thanks clean-up volunteers

Gosford mayor Cr Chris Holstein has thanked all local volunteers who contributed to Clean Up Australia Day efforts at Empire Bay, Ettalong Beach, Bouddi Peninsula, Pelican Island and Burrawong Reserve in Woy Woy on March 1.

"It is fantastic that Gosford City residents are so passionate about the state of our environment," Cr Holstein said.

"The local community has once again shown that we can make a difference when we all work together."

Cr Holstein thanked Kincumber Sand and Soil and Central Coast Sand and Soil for their invaluable support in providing several trucks and staff to collect all the rubbish from clean-up sites and take it to our landfills.

He said this year's clean up collected around 20 tonnes of rubbish including a car, many tyres, fishing rods, chairs, mattresses, as well as a number of shopping trolleys.
