Chamber welcomes speed zone

The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has welcomed Gosford Council's decision to implement a 40kph speed zone for the Ettalong Beach town centre.

"This is a good decision for Ettalong Beach which will ensure a safer pedestrian environment for shoppers and visitors to our town centre," said Chamber spokesperson Mr Andrew Tregent.

"With increasing pedestrian activity in Ettalong Beach, it is important to ensure that vehicle speeds are kept to minimum so as to reduce the likelihood of accidents.

"The Chamber of Commerce will be asking to view the proposed traffic calming devices and speed restriction areas so that businesses can be fully informed of what Council is proposing.

"We also understand that the RTA will be funding the proposed street treatments which is good news for businesses and council."

Mr Tregent said that it was important that businesses were kept up to date by council on such important traffic initiatives in the Peninsula town centres.

"By requesting copies of the proposed plans, businesses will then have an opportunity to comment on the proposals as these will likely have an impact on local business," Mr Tregent said.
