Left turn recommended

Gosford Council has encouraged users of the ABC Learning Centre, Woy Woy, to turn left into Ocean Beach Rd in the event that sight distance is obstructed by a parked vehicle.

A facility patron has reported that it was becoming "increasingly difficult" to exit the driveway of the ABC Learning Centre due to parked vehicles obscuring sight distance.

The patron asked that parking be prohibited on that section of road.

Council previously adopted a traffic committee recommendation not to provide No Parking signs in the vicinity of the access to the ABC Learning Centre.

The original request was originally made by staff of the centre.

Council traffic committee stated that a site inspection revealed that the centre had dual access crossings (in and out) off Ocean Beach Rd with the exit being located on the southern side of the property.

It stated that: "To provide parking restrictions outside the centre would only relocate parking further south which would affect the driveways of several residential properties".

The committee recommended that the centre be encouraged to advise parents of the option of turning left into Ocean Beach Rd in the event that sight distance is obstructed by a parked vehicle.
