Used postage stamps wanted

Wires member Ms Dawn Springett is looking for people to donate stamps to the organisations, for resale at the monthly Woy Woy Lions Club Car Boot Sale.

Ms Springett said the groups supply of stamps had become "leaner and leaner" and they "desperately need new suppliers".

"As a commitment towards fundraising for the WIRES Central Coast Branch, I contribute part of my stall that I hold each month at a Lions Club Car Boot Sale in Roger's Park at Woy Woy," Ms Springett said.

"My friends, acquaintances and WIRES members donate bric-a-brac, books and household items that are sorted, washed and priced before each sale.

"Prices begin at 10 cents so consequently hundreds of items are sold each year.

"A consistently good seller for WIRES is packets of Australian and overseas stamps.

"Regular customers come month after month looking for new packets.

"Some buy only one packet each month, others buy many more.

"The last car boot sale, however, resulted in sales of 37 packets, an all time record, so our stocks of stamps have become very depleted.

"Can we implore members, their friends and relations to collect stamps for our ever decreasing supplies.

"Stamps should be left on paper with one centimeter cut carefully all around each stamp.

"We take every stamp including generic stamps because these may eventually be passed onto other charities.

"The stamps are sorted into separate packets of 100 different stamps."

Ms Springett asked that donors bring the stamps along to the next WIRES meeting or alternatively to the next Boot Sale at Rogers Park, Woy Woy, at the Lions Club stall.
