Pearl Beach nature walks
The National Parks and Wildlife will be holding two Discovery tours in early January, both at Pearl Beach.
The first walk will be held on Saturday, January 7, with the second walk to take place on Tuesday, January 10.
The first walk is an easy walk entitled the Rock Platform Spotlight.
This tour shows participants what goes on in a rock pool when the sun goes down.
Participants will learn information from algae to eels.
Those joining the walk are asked to bring warm clothing, old closed-in, non-slip shoes that may get wet, a bright torch, snack and drink.
Walkers will meet at the southern end of the Pearl beach car park at 7.45pm, with an expected finish time of 9.45pm.
Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children.
Organisers said the walk would suit people aged 5 and over.
The second walk is the Mini Beast Hunt.
Participants on this bushwalk will experience the natural biodiversity of the area.
Walkers will visit waterfalls and dip nets for creatures in the creeks and waterholes.
Participants will also have the opportunity to search for lyrebirds and koalas.
Participants are asked to bring walking shoes, morning tea, snacks, water and sun protection.
Cost is again $7 for adults and $4 for children, with a family special of $20 for two adults and three children.
The walk will start at 9am in the Pearl Beach area with an expected finish of 11.30am.
Bookings are limited and essential, and must be made before noon on the Friday prior to the Rock Platform Spotlight and before noon on the day before the Mini Beast Hunt.
