Soccer star at eight

Eight year-old Alex Arbelo of Bensville has been selected in the top 16 soccer players of the country in his age group.

Of 10,000 players, 600 were chosen throughout in elite squads.

Alex made it into the Sydney Elite squad run out of NSW Soccer Head Quarters at Valentine Park.

From these squads around Australia, 130 players were asked to trial for Oceania Selection earlier this month.

The 16 top players were chosen and Alex Arbelo who plays for Terrigal was selected.

In April, he will tour with a super squad to Europe including Liverpool and Manchester United academies.

On his return, he will tour Australia, playing games against clubs such as Oceania Elite.
