Labour Day bridge played with reduced field
Brisbane Water Bridge Club played its Labour Day Pairs competition on Monday, October 2.
With a reduced Holiday Monday field, club president Mr Jim Routledge said: "What we lacked in quantity, we made up with quality."
"There were many Grand Masters aspiring for the honours, while some mere mortals sharpened their skills."
North-South competition saw a return to form for Martin Johnson and Chris Hasemore "who have been bridesmaids a couple of times recently".

East-West competition saw success for Sylvia and Barry Foster, who normally play with different partners.

2 Janice Donohoe, Meryl Duke 186.0 (55.36), 0.25.
3 Dasha Brandt, David Bowerman 182.0 (54.17), 0.18.

Mr Routledge said the club would be conducting its usual Melbourne Cup Day Competition.
Bridge will start at 11am and finish in time to watch the race.
Sweeps will be held with $1, $2 and $5 tickets.
