Dementia care provider is 'Care Finder'
The provider of a dementia care facility on the Peninsula is one of three Central Coast providers to be part of the new Federal Government Care Finder program, according to Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid.
HammondCare which provides residential care in Woy Woy has been accredited as a "Care Finder".
"The Care Finder program offers vulnerable older Australians one-on-one intensive support to help them access aged care as well as health, housing, and community services," said Dr Reid.
"The Care Finder program was launched following a recommendation from the Royal Commission into Aged Care quality and Safety, which called on the Federal Government to provide more support to older Australians."
He said vulnerable older people should take advantage of the service.
"The Care Finder program will especially help people from language backgrounds other than English, people who have no carer or support person, and find it difficult to understand information", Dr Reid said.
Care Finders can assist in a range of areas including talking to My Aged Care, attending and providing support at the assessment, identifying and shortlisting aged care providers, completing forms and understanding aged care service agreements, and helping with other challenges.
