Council rejects grant applications from Peninsula groups

Central Coast Council has rejected applications for Community Support Grants from two Peninsula community groups, while approving applications from eight groups from other areas.

Both Peninsula Evangelical Church Inc and Southern Spirit Cricket Club were told their applications were ineligible.

Peninsula Evangelical Church sought funding for community carols, while Southern Spirit Cricket Club sought a ground fee subsidy

Council staff said both applications were ineligible because "applications seeking funds for retrospective projects or activities, projects can't start, or projects items purchased prior to four weeks from the end of the grant closing date.

"For example, an application submitted in July must commence no sooner than September 1 in order to be eligible."

At the same time, the council allocated a total of $26,000 to Central Coast Junior Rugby Union, The University of Newcastle, Educar Foundation Ltd, the Rotary Club of Gosford City, Tempo Terrific Inc, Kariong Progress Association, Chain Valley Bay Progress Association and Gosford Regional Community Services.
