Hospital waiting times increase by up to 21 per cent
Central Coast emergency departments have been ranked as worst in NSW with new data revealing that the majority of patients are waiting more than four hours for treatment.
The data released by the Bureau of Health Information showed that the Central Coast Local Health District was the worst in the State for the March quarter, according to Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch.
The District had 51.5 per cent of emergency department patients waiting over four hours for treatment.
The figure at Gosford Hospital was 54.1 per cent at Gosford Hospital, up by nearly 10 per cent since March last year.
The report also revealed that wait times for ambulances and elective surgery had blown out significantly, she said.
Nearly 60 per cent of ambulances for priority 1 patients in the Gosford area did not arrive within 15 minutes, up by 6.6 per cent.
Wait times for non-urgent elective surgeries increased by 21 per cent at Gosford Hospital.
Ms Tesch said: "This information won't shock any nurse or paramedic who works at Gosford Hospital or in our community because they experience this daily.
"Health and hospitals under Dominic Perrottet and the NSW Liberal Government have been decimated after 12 years of inaction."
