Tribute to Albert Quilkey

The board and the staff of a Woy Woy aged care home have paid tribute to a former board member following his death early this month.

BlueWave Living issued a statement extending their "heartfelt condolences" to the family of Mr Albert Quilkey who passed away on September 3,

"Albert was a much-valued member of the BlueWave Living family," the statement said.

"Albert was involved in the Peninsula Community through Rotary and his long association with BlueWave Living.

"Albert became a company member of the then Woy Woy Community Nursing Home in March 1992 and was a board member for 13 years from 1992 to 2005 and the chairman from 1995 to 2004.

"Albert had extensive knowledge In the building industry and was a member of the building committee involved in the construction of the 40-bed hostel which opened in 1999 and the nursing home eight-bed extension and renovations which were completed in 2004.

"Albert and Margaret Quilkey were very generous over the years with their time as well as an annual donation that allowed the residents to attend small holidays and special functions.

"These included a three day holiday in resort-style accommodation in Anna Bay and an Italian luncheon at Villa Sorgenti at Somersby, with all the residents travelling in chauffeured limousines.

"BlueWave Living and the community will miss Albert and thank him for his outstanding contribution."
