Inadequate vaccine supply for teachers, says Tesch

An inadequate local supply of coronavirus vaccine is forcing school staff and childcare workers to travel to Sydney, Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch has claimed.

"Under the NSW Government's return to school rollout, school staff are required to be vaccinated by November 8," she said.

"Many school staff are already frustrated with the lack of access to the vaccine and fear being unable to work as the supply of Pfizer vaccines continues to struggle with the demand."

Ms Tesch said: "We all want face-to-face learning to resume in a safe environment for our students, staff and teachers."

But it was ridiculous to mandate this without ensuring that local teaching staff were able to get vaccinated here, she said.

"Asking school and early childcare staff to travel through red zones and risk both their health as well as police questioning is just reprehensible."

Ms Tesch called for an alternative site on the Central Coast for teaching staff to get vaccinated.
