Margaret crowned district singles champion
Margaret Smith from Ettalong Memorial Women's Bowling Club has been crowned this year's District Singles Champion.
She won in a game against Heather McColl from Gosford City Bowling Club.
"This game started bowl for bowl," said Ettalong Memorial Women's Bowling Club publicity officer Ms Maureen Kerr.
"But Margaret eventually hit the front, only to have Heather stage a comeback and take the lead
"Margaret with dogged persistence once again took over as leader. Heather was hard on her heels.
"Then the lead changed with nearly every end.
"In what was to be the last end, Margaret needed three for the win and she was holding two shots.
"As she stood on the mat, with what was to be her last bowl in hand, her determination was obvious to all.
"The bowl was a counter.
"Heather with her last bowl was unable to change the head.
"This game was a repeat of last year's final, but with a different outcome," Ms Kerr said.
