Women's Seven team hang up their boots
The Woy Woy Lions Rugby Club Women's Seven team are hanging up their boots for the season after losing their preliminary final against Avoca Beach 26 points to 10.
Central Coast Rugby Union publicity officer Mr Larry Thomson said the Lions got off to a strong start but a late resurgence by Avoca Beach proved their undoing.
"The first half was a very even struggle with Avoca Beach only going to the halftime break leading 7-5.
"However, the second half saw Avoca Beach pile on 19 further points to score a comfortable victory," he said.
The Women's 7 were the club's most successful team of the season with club president Mr John Hewett saying they did Woy Woy proud.
He said the team had "another fantastic season played with skill, passion and commitment".
The Lions are now preparing for their end of season presentation night which will take place at Ocean Beach Surf Club on September 21.
