Fire brigade helps locals prepare for fire season
The Bays Rural Fire Service are holding a "get ready" day at the Phegans Bay Fire Station on September 14.
The event is being held to help locals prepare for the upcoming bush fire season and will from run 10am to 2pm.
Visitors will be able to ask local firefighters questions to get bushfire ready, discuss local fire hazards and fine tune their bushfire survival plans.
Last year's season saw three major fires ravage bushland around the Peninsula, including the Lion Island bushfire that threatened to disrupt the Island's Little Penguin colony this year.
Conditions leading up to this year's season have been warm and dry prompting concerns that this year's bushfires could be far more devastating than 2018's.
