New rubbish bins damaged

New rubbish bins placed in Umina have been damaged, in what Cr Richard Mehrtens has described as "petty vandalism at its worst".

The damage has caused thousands of dollars in repairs and replacement, he said.

"It's disappointing that 99 per cent of the community welcomes new local amenities and appreciate the work that Council is doing to improve our town centres, but the one per cent have to ruin it for everyone else,'' he said.

"No one is impressed by this, and if someone is, you should get new friends.

"We all want to live in a nice place of which we can be proud, and I am sorry to the residents of Umina Beach who are the victims of this behaviour."
