Bay to Bay run to be held on June 17

The Bay to Bay run, from Woy Woy waterfront to the stadium in Gosford, will be held on Sunday, June 17.

The run offers both a 12km fun run and a 21km half-marathon event starting at Woy Woy.

The 12km event starts at Woy Woy Waterfront, proceeds along Brisbane Water Dr east of railway line linking up with cycleway at Point Clare and continuing to Gosford Waterfront, finishing in the Central Coast Stadium.

The half marathon starts at Woy Woy Waterfront, proceeds past Lions Park and heads towards Blackwall Point before turning around back to Fishermans Wharf and then proceeding along Brisbane Water Dr east of railway line linking up with cycleway at Point Clare and continuing to Gosford Waterfront, finishing in the Central Coast Stadium (Home of the Mariners).

The run is a charity event with adult tickets costing upwards of $60 and proceeds going to Camp Breakaway, Aspect Central Coast School and the Local Health District.

Prize money will go to the winners.

Central Coast Mayor, Cr Jane Smith, said that it is important for Council to support local events that improve the physical and social wellbeing of the Central Coast community.

"The Bay to Bay Running Festival is a great way for the community to come together and raise some much-needed funds for local charities in a healthy, fun-filled and family-friendly environment.

"Last year's event raised a record-breaking $70,000, it would be great to see the community band together to try and match this sensational figure again this year," Cr Smith said.

Free train transport will be provided by Transport NSW, on production of a race bib, so there would be no need to carry an Opal card or search for change on the day of the race, she said.
