Bays' committee members step down
Two long-serving members of the executive committee of The Bays Community Group have recently stepped down from their roles.
"These two stalwarts are Mr Jim Doe and Mr Dick Kirk," said group president Ms Cathy Gleeson.
"Both have worked together on so many community projects as volunteers and given so much of their time and talent over many years to help shape our community into the warm, welcoming place that it is today," Ms Gleeson said.
"A small ceremony was held in the community hall where their efforts were acknowledged and the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation to Jim took place," she said.
"Dick was unavailable on the night and was presented with his certificate later."
Ms Gleeson said the group also wished to congratulate one of the new executive committee members, Mr Paul Lepora, on becoming an Australian citizen.
"Paul, originally from South Africa, and his partner Karen moved to Woy Woy Bay in February 2013," she said.
"Besides being overwhelmed by the stunning natural beauty of our bays, he was immediately struck by the openness and friendliness of local people.
"After living all over the world, he knew they had found their real home."
