The politicians we deserve

Looking at the way the votes are shaping up in the Gosford West ward, we are going to have one Labor councillor (who, at least, lives in the ward), one Liberal councillor (who thinks that the Council's most pressing problem is to preserve the date of Australia Day) and, heaven help us, Chris Holstein.

Even Labor's Vicki Scott who showed some common sense on the old Council and who has been active in thinking about the future of the Central Coast couldn't muster electoral support.

This was supposed to be the opportunity for us to clean out the old wood, set new directions and bring fresh thinking to the Council table.

Well, nobody in the Gosford West ward will be able to complain, if the new Council turns out to be much the same as the old or if our ward representatives don't show much concern for local, as opposed to political, issues.

As has been said many times, you get the politicians you deserve.
