Road markings and signs installed at Empire Bay
New road markings and give way signs have been installed at the intersection of Greenfield and Rickard Rds, Empire Bay.
Empire Bay and Districts Roads Action Group member Mr Gregory Olsen said the work was a direct result of the group's lobbying of Central Coast Council.
"The portable, electric sign, with a message designed to remind and encourage motorists to keep to the 50km speed limit, will soon be installed for a couple of weeks in an effort to reinforce the community's desire to have responsible driving on our roads, especially as there are often young bike riders and elderly pedestrians about.
"The council is preparing a quote on the total rebuilding of Greenfield Rd, including kerbs, gutters, enclosed drains and a path on the eastern side.
"I will forward this document on to Terrigal MP Mr Adam Crouch who has promised to advocate for us to garner NSW Government funding to fast track this major work," he said.
According to Mr Olsen, unsatisfactory fencing around the Kendall Rd drain outlet will also soon be replaced and the paperwork to have the blocked drains affecting the stormwater flooding in Shelly Beach Rd and Sher Cls opened and cleaned are progressing nicely.
Mr Olsen also encouraged Empire Bay residents to get behind Council's new Pothole Hotline, which can be used by concerned road users to report potholes or complain about specific issues effecting local roads.
"All in all, the hard work the group has put in to bring about government action on the Empire Bay community concerns is coming to fruition.
"It certainly gladdens my heart to see some progress after so many years of dereliction by Council," Mr Olsen concluded.
