Classes attend swim school
Five of the special needs classes at Woy Woy Public School have participated in the Swim School Program at the Peninsula Leisure Centre Woy Woy.
The program taught the students how to swim and develop stroke styles, and about lifesaving skills.
The swimming lessons were therapeutic, with the water helping to calm their senses and providing them with a weightless environment that helps them to feel free.
The students learned independence and relaxation in the water.
They were educated on personal survival skills, not just for the pool, but rivers, lakes and the ocean.
They learned the breath control technique, free floating activities and a range of strokes such as freestyle and backstroke.
