Underpass open by September, says department
The Woy Woy rail underpass will be open to traffic by the end of August, according to the latest update from Transport for NSW.
Previously, it had stated the work could take up to six months to complete.
The department still has not confirmed the cost of the repairs to the underpass:
"We will confirm the costs within the next few weeks, following further planning," the department said in a statement issued on May 13.
"This cost will be for the new bridge protection, which will include clearance frames on both road approaches to the bridge, designed to act as early warnings to high vehicles as well as crash beams on either side of the bridge, designed to protect the bridge from potential vehicle collision," the statement said.
"The underpass will be open to traffic by the end of August.
"The safety of our customers and people is our number one priority."
