Not interested in consultation?
I was amused to read on page 25 of Peninsula News dated September 16, that Council did not receive any objections to an "advertised" increase in fees to be charged for the use of the Peninsula Theatre.
One would have thought that such an increase would have raised enormous concern, particularly as the theatre is already too expensive to hire and sits there empty most of the time.
Of course they didn't receive any response, because they didn't advertise the increase in Peninsula News.
The Peninsula has had its own newspaper for 14 years and yet Council continues to go through the motions of "advertising" anything to do with the Peninsula in another paper that is not as well read on the Peninsula.
I guess if you want to look as if you've tried public consultation but the community wasn't interested, that would be the way to do it.
