Community garden celebrates first year
The Woy Woy Peninsula Community Garden will celebrate its first birthday with a Winter Solstice Workshop on Saturday, June 22, from 1.30pm to 3.00pm.
"The group started work on clearing the site just over a year ago, and our first official plantings in the raised garden beds took place on the winter solstice last year," said garden coordinator Ms Jill Meredith.
Thanks to a community builders grant from Gosford Council, the group has been able to build more raised garden beds, build a sensory herb circle, provide seating and a colourful mural for the shed.
"Our workshop will be on organic and permaculture principles and how to improve the soil," said Ms Meredith.
"It will be led by local horticulturist Adam McCall, who helped design the garden layout," she said.
The workshop is available by gold coin donation, but enquiries and bookings should be made to Jill Meredith on 4344 2704.
