Workshop on teaching learner drivers
A free two-hour workshop to support local people teaching learner drivers was held on Wednesday, June 5, at the Peninsula Community Centre.
The workshop, which was organised by Coast Community Connections and attracted 30 participants, focussed on how to tutor a learner driver to become a safe driver.
Coast Community Connections CEO Mr Andrew Tuck said the course was all about making the experience of learning to drive a happy one, for both the driver and the experienced driving teacher.
"The process of learning to drive is complex," said Mr Tuck.
"For many parents, carers or friends, the responsibility of imparting all the skills, knowledge, experience and confidence required to become a safe driver can be overwhelming.
"This workshop intended to equip anyone teaching someone to drive with the crucial skills and knowledge required to instruct and educate a beginner driver," he said.
