Careflight called to Umina oval
A CareFlight helicopter was called to a rugby league match at Umina Beach Sports Oval late in the afternoon on Saturday, June 30.
A 15 year-old boy from Woy Woy had suffered neck and back injuries in a tackle during the game.
"Ambulance and paramedics arrived at the scene and they decided to call CareFlight," said CareFlight director Mr Ian Badham.
"The CareFlight helicopter arrived at the oval just before dark, people still at the match turned their car headlights on to assist in the helicopter's landing.
"CareFlight worked with paramedics to stabilise the boy.
"Because he had some degree of injury it was decided that he should be flown to Westmead Children's Hospital for observation.
"He was in a stable condition," Mr Badham said.
