Far greater inaccuracies

I find it very strange that Mr Wales has taken the time to "respond to inaccuracies" (Peninsula News, January 9) when his own media releases are, in my opinion, riddled with far greater inaccuracies.

How many times has Mr Wales claimed that the "business community" supports his position when the factual situation is that some members of the business community support his opinion?

Allow me to quote Mr Wales' media release dated November 16.

He alleged "Umina Beach is now coming of age and becoming a retail centre to rival the best on the Coast".

Is this an accurate statement?

Is he seriously suggesting that Umina Beach offers a range of goods and services that is comparable to Erina Fair or Westfield Tuggerah?

How can we take this man seriously?

If I needed a pair of trousers, a tie and a business shirt to attend a job interview at, let's say, McDonalds or Bunnings, the only options available in Umina Beach are the op shops.

I would need to travel to Woy Woy or Erina to obtain new attire.

I would also like to consider the allegation that new customers attracted to Umina have "greater spending power".

Where is the evidence to support this insult?

I prefer the opinion of Ms Smith to that of Mr Wales and I call on the editor to refrain from publishing Mr Wales' outlandish claims.

If the "business community" wants Mr Wales' opinion to be published they should be paying commercial rates to publish the propaganda.
