Rugby cruise to final
Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina Campus has had a successful season on the Rugby Union field this year, according to coach Mr Craig Hunter.
The Under-15s competed against the top Sydney Schools in a 10 a-side Rugby Gala Day in Merrylands on Wednesday, August 3.
They cruised through to the final where they met Prairiewood High School.
Prairiewood scored early but Brisbane Water Secondary College managed to get a try with only minutes remaining.
The final score was 7-7 but Brisbane Water was announced the loser as they were not the first try scorer.
"The boys were exhausted having played a total of 13 matched in two days, as they had Rugby League the day before," said Mr Hunter.
The under-16 team competed in the same gala day two months before on Wednesday, June 8, and after a minor speed bump in the first match, managed to win all their remaining matches.
The final against Cabramatta was all one way traffic with Brisbane Water winning 29 points to seven.
"Both teams have plenty of talent and relished the open spaces created by 10 a-side rugby," said Mr Hunter.
