Edge line recommended
Council's Local Traffic Committee has recommended that an edge line be provided 3.5 metres from the existing centreline westerly from the access road to the Dark Corner boat ramp at Patonga Dr, Patonga.
The committee also recommended that the post and rail fence be relocated to provide a parking lane between the edge line and the fence.
The committee's recommendation follows residents' concerns about cars parking on the beach side of Patonga Dr at the entrance to Patonga Village opposite the sewerage works.
"Currently buses entering the village can be forced to cross the double lines when cars are parked to the corner," according to a report to the committee.
A No Stopping Zone was requested to eliminate the cars parked to the corner.
An investigation by Council identified the southbound road width to be between 5.5 and 5.8 metres between the access road to the boat ramp and the village.
According to the report, in order to ensure that an adequate through traffic lane is provided, the implementation of the edge line and relocation of the post and rail fence is required.
The cost for the installation of required signage and line marking could be accommodated in existing recurrent budgets.
