Triathlon attracts 650 children
More than 650 children from the Central Coast ran, cycled and swam in a triathlon competition on Sunday, January, 23, at the Peninsula Leisure Centre in Woy Woy.
It was the second leg of the annual "Tryathlon" event and attracted more than the 600 participants that organisers expected.
Former World Champion iron man Guy Leech, cricketer Nathan Bracken, Central Coast Mariners Bradley Porter and Brady Smith, Terry Antonis from Sydney FC and former triathlon world champ Nicole Barry (nee Hackett) were all in attendance to lend their support to the participants, aged between seven and 15.
"Everybody had a fantastic time and it was great to see so many kids getting involved and enjoying a fun day out with family and friends," said Guy Leech.
"This isn't about the fastest time. It's about taking part, having fun and being healthy. "Everyone who participates receives a medal and goes home a winner."
The event, which was last held on the Central Coast in 2004, received support from the New South Wales government and Gosford Council.
