Shopping centre celebrates 25 years

Deepwater Plaza Shopping Centre in Woy Woy has celebrated 25 years on the Peninsula.

The centre officially opened in April 1984 and was said to have changed the shopping habits of consumers of the Peninsula and surrounding suburbs.

Retailers who have remained tenants since the centre's opening in 1984 include Deepwater Surf, Peters Meats, Suzanne Grae and the Greater Building Society.

In 1994, the centre expanded with the addition of a Franklin's supermarket, Lowes Menswear and Bakers Delight.

Further expansion took place in 2005 bringing the area of the centre to more than 18,000sqm.

In the national shopping centre stakes, Deepwater Plaza rates 21st out of a total 160 "Mini Gun" shopping centres in Australia.

Current pedestrian traffic to the shopping centre is estimated at more than four million people per year.

Deepwater Plaza is currently owned by the Schwartz Family Co Pty Ltd and is managed by Savills Australia.
