Club chairman steps down

Ettalong Beach War Memorial Club chairman Mr John Houtman has announced his retirement from the board after 20 years.

"After a long and tortuous deliberation I have decided not to seek re-election to the board of directors," Mr Houtman said.

The announcement follows the resignation of club CEO Mr Peter Hale.

Mr Houtman has been an elected director of Ettalong Beach War Memorial Club since 1987 and chairman since 1988.

He was employed for many years as a chartered accountant with wide experience in auditing licensed clubs.

Mr Houtman retired from full-time employment in 1989.
