We're very lucky

What a pity to read recent negative letters about the Peninsula.

I have lived here for six years, and find many positive things about the area.

So far I've been delighted to meet artists, poets, great neighbours, passionate carers of our unique environment, plus people from a variety of backgrounds.

As well, you don't have to go far to eat great food in the growing number of cafes and organic food outlets or go to live theatre and music events.

Small, individual clothing shops are improving our streetscapes and building pride in our village atmospheres.

The sense of "community" is growing all the time, with initiatives such as communal vegetable gardens and community interest in appropriate design and scale for new buildings.

We're very lucky, I think.
