CWA branch resumes meetings in renovated hall

The Umina Beach branch of the Country Women's Association has returned to its hall for meetings after recent kitchen renovations were completed.

The first craft meeting back in the hall was celebrated by knitting beanies for We Care Connect and eating cupcakes for a member's birthday.

Woy Woy divers help with marine clean-up

Five umbrellas, scooters, crab traps, shopping trolleys, mobile phones, plastic pipe, carpet pieces, car tyres, a large piece of floating "stormwater litter" were all amongst 340 kilos of rubbish recently collected by marine clean-up group Clean4Shore.

Clean4Shore, helped by volunteer divers from Woy Woy's Scuba Gym Australia, spent a chilly morning on the Gosford Waterfront, according to co-ordinator Mr Graham Johnston.

"Departing from Lions Park Woy Woy on Friday, June 5, litter was visible from the recent storms along Paddy's Channel.

"The Gosford boat ramp jetty immediately presented drums, buckets, steel products collected by scuba coordinator Ms Lyndi Leggett.

Mr Johnston said it was a huge effort by the diving team.

"There was virtually zero visibility for the divers, who used hands and feet to locate the rubbish."

The car tyres and one shopping trolley were recycled with the balance buried at Woy Woy tip.
