Mixed pairs was qualifying event for State champs

Brisbane Water Bridge Club's Mixed Pairs Championship attracted 11 duos.

The championship also doubled as a State Championship qualifying event, with the best available pairs being sponsored for the tournament final held at the NSW home of bridge.

Jaan Oitmaa and Sylvia Foster had a comfortable five per cent win.

While first place was clear-cut, the battle for the other places was red hot.

Both pairs scored great percentages, with 0.7 per cent separating them.

Donelle Foate and Matt Raj Mal were second and Kevin Hughes and Carolynne Mucharsky third.

Results were:

1 Jaan Oitmaa, Sylvia Foster 286.7 (59.72 per cent).

2 Donelle Foate, Mal Matt Raj 262.2 (54.63).

3 Kevin Hughes, Carolynne Mucharsky 258.9 (53.94).

4 David Bowerman, Dasha Brandt 256.7 (53.47).

5 Judy Wulff, David Adams 243.3 (50.69).

6 Hope Tomlinson, Barry Foster 241.1 (50.23).

7 David Snow, Jenny Buckley 238.9 (49.77).

8 Elaine Hume, Peter Hume 227.8 (47.45).

9 Karen Ody, Jim Routledge 218.3 (45.49).

10 Wanda Little, Roy Cotton 207.8 (43.29).
