Tributes for Lyle Besley

A memorial service has been held for Mr Lyle Besley, who died early this month.

Mr Besley was involved with the Woy Woy Roosters RLFC and the Woy Woy Juniors, as well as the Woy Woy and Southern Spirit cricket clubs.

Both the Roosters and Southern Spirit paid tribute to him in social media posts.

"Bez was apart of the Roosters back in the 80s and a much loved character," the Roosters' post said.

"He was also a big part of the Woy Woy juniors as a trainer, coach and committee member.

"He was always there to help set up the oval in the early mornings and happy to be there packing up and enjoying an ice cold refreshment at the end.

"Bez touched a lot of lives, and with his dry humour, love of the Sharkies, Elvis impersonations and the occasional Tooheys New.

"He would always put a smile on peoples faces where ever he went."

The Southern Spirit post said: "Lyle was involved with both Woy Woy and Southern Spirit cricket clubs for many years as both a player and junior coach and was a popular club man.

"Lyle's quiet, easy going manner, dry humour and outstanding Elvis impersonations always brought a smile to those around him.

"He was a great friend to many in the local cricket, rugby league and golfing communities and will be missed by many."

The private memorial service was held on April 14, attended by close family and lifelong friends.

He is survived by his wife Tiffany, and his children Jon, Lisa and Luke.
